Personal attacks on judges not right: Justice Pardiwala
Justice Pardiwala said that personal attacks on judges for their decisions lead to a dangerous scenario where judges have to think about what the law actually thinks, rather than what the media thinks. He said that the rule of law is the most distinctive feature of Indian democracy, public opinion should be subject to the rule of law. Pardiwala said that we are the custodians of rights and have to tell people the things which they do not like. Judicial decisions cannot be a reflection of the effect of public opinion.
curb on social media
Justice Pardiwala further observed that social media is often used to politicize purely legal and constitutional issues. He said that social media should be reined in on sensitive issues. Parliament also needs to consider this.
