Maharashtra Crisis: Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde took oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Thursday, while BJP's Devendra Fadnavis took oath as the Deputy Chief Minister. Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari administered the oath of office to Eknath Shinde and Fadnavis at Raj Bhavan in South Mumbai after 7.30 pm. Earlier, in a surprise move on Thursday evening, Fadnavis announced that Shinde, who led the revolt in Shiv Sena, would be the new chief minister of the state and himself would be out of the new government.

After the announcement of the new Chief Minister of Maharashtra and the announcement of Fadnavis not joining the government, the party's national president JP Nadda came in front of the media and called Fadnavis a leader with a big heart. He requested Fadnavis to join the new government and take over as Deputy CM. After this, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also tweeted and said that Devendra Fadnavis has decided to join the Maharashtra government on the request of BJP President JP Nadda. This decision is a sign of his true loyalty and service towards Maharashtra. After this, Fadnavis also tweeted and wrote – As a worker, I follow the orders of the party.

Prime Minister Modi has congratulated Eknath Shinde for taking oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Devendra Fadnavis for taking oath as the Deputy Chief Minister. Modi described Shinde as an experienced grassroots leader, while Fadnavis was an inspiration for every BJP worker.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said the rebels have chosen their own path and will regret their decision. He also said that Shiv Sena will play the role of a positive opposition. He also shared a picture in which blood is seeping from a wound on the back of a man.

With the formation of the new government in Maharashtra, Maharashtra will become the third-largest state after Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh, where the ruling BJP at the Center was successful in reversing the power battle despite failing to form the government in the elections. This will be the first time after Prime Minister Narendra Modi took charge of the country for the second time, when out of the total 28 states and eight union territories of the country, BJP is now in power in 16 states (including Maharashtra) and one union territory directly or with allies.
