Domestic staff can earn up to $300,000: report reveals how
A report reveals that certain chefs, nannies and personal assistants can earn up to $300,000 a year in the United States due to high demand
Many Latinos who come to the United States see domestic work as one of their first options to work and earn their first dollars. No one would believe that such a job could earn you up to $300,000 a year. A new study found what type of workers would achieve those salaries, in a market where there is a shortage of personnel, and the characteristics to achieve that income.
The analysis was performed on a database of more than 200,000 candidates and thousands of hires made between January 2024 and October 2025 in the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe and the Middle East. The firm found that the United States offers the highest salaries for most of the positions evaluated.
Private chefs stand out among the best paying jobs. In the United States, these professionals can receive between $100,000 and $300,000 annually. The highest salaries correspond to those who have experience in fine dining restaurants, have professional recognition or can prepare specialized menus for clients with specific dietary needs.
Other positions that also reach six-figure incomes are personnel managers, who can earn between $150,000 and $300,000 a year. Personal assistants receive between $80,000 and $250,000, while executive assistants can reach between $120,000 and $200,000. Property managers have salaries ranging from $150,000 to $200,000.
As a comparison, the United States Census Bureau reported that the median household income in the country was $83,730 in 2024. This shows the difference between a traditional domestic job and high-level private service positions.
The report also highlights that personal assistants are currently the most sought-after position in the United States, representing 22% of their clients' hiring requests. The increasing purchase of additional properties by wealthy families has also increased the need for managers capable of coordinating maintenance, security and operations.
For many Latino immigrants, domestic work represents an important source of employment in the United States, especially in areas such as cleaning, child care, and elder assistance. Although most of these positions do not reach luxury market salaries, the report shows that training, languages, experience and specialization can open up higher-paying job opportunities.
In a sector where confidence is as important as technical skills, those seeking to advance professionally can find greater opportunities by developing specific knowledge and building a verifiable track record within the private service.
