The Supreme Court has dismissed the revision petition of Bilkis Bano. Bano had challenged the acquittal of the 11 convicts in the gang rape case. In his petition, he had requested to review the order of release.
The Supreme Court had asked the Gujarat government to consider within two months the petition seeking premature release of the convicts under the policy of 9 July 1992. The Gujarat government released all the 11 convicts on August 15, waiving their sentence.

Will fight again against what is wrong: Bilkis Bano
After the release of 11 convicts, Bilkis Bano had earlier said, I will fight again for what is wrong and what is right. The decision to once again stand up and knock on the doors of justice was not an easy one for me, he said. After the release of my entire family and the people who destroyed my life, I was in shock for a long time. I was rooted for my children, my daughters, and most of all the loss of hope. Bano said that during her silence she received voices of support from different parts of the country, which gave her hope, and made her realize that she was not alone in her suffering. So, I will once again stand up and fight against what is wrong and what is right, she said. I am doing this today for myself, for my children and for women everywhere.
