UNSC Meeting In Delhi: Addressing the UNSC Special Meeting of the Anti-Terrorism Committee in the national capital, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said, "Terrorism remains the greatest threat to humanity. Over the past two decades, the United Nations Security Council has developed a significant architecture primarily around counter-terrorism. The regime is committed to countering this threat." At the same time, he said that it has been very effective in putting countries on notice that had turned terrorism into a state-funded enterprise.

'Internet and social media support for conspiracy'

The External Affairs Minister said the Internet and social media platforms have become powerful tools in the toolkit of terrorist groups to spread propaganda, bigotry and conspiracy theories aimed at creating instability in the society. In conclusion, Jaishankar announced that India will contribute half a million to the United Nations Trust Fund for Counter Terrorism this year to augment UNOCT's efforts in providing capacity-building assistance to member countries in preventing and combating the menace of terrorism.
