Indian Railways is planning to introduce 3,000 new trains in the next four-five years as the population is increasing. More trains are needed to accommodate this. Apart from this, the ministry is also working on the goal of reducing the travel time. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave this information on Thursday. He said that with the introduction of new trains by 2027, the hassle of waiting tickets will end and everyone will get confirmed tickets.

Railways hopes that in the coming five years, the number of trains on the track will be increased as per the demand. He said that the current passenger capacity of Railways is 800 crore annually, a target has been set to increase it to 1,000 crore in five years. According to railway sources, 69,000 new coaches have been ready. Every year around 5,000 new coaches are being made. After this, apart from 400 to 450 Vande Bharat trains, Railways can run 200 to 250 pairs of new trains every year. Vaishnav said, reducing travel time is another goal for which work is being done to expand the rail network.

Dismissing reports of shortage of berths with non-AC coaches, Vaishnav said the number of special trains has been increased by almost three times this festive season compared to last year. To accommodate the rush of passengers this festive season, 6,754 additional trains are being operated between October 1 and December 31, compared to 2,614 in the same period last year. He said, we have made plans for Diwali and Chhath. We study the reservations and waiting list three months before the start of the festival season.
