During a appearance before the media, the leader ruled out leaving the position and confirmed that he will return to compete with his current work team. “I'm not going to resign. I have asked the Board to start the election process s to the Board of Directors, to which we are going to present,” he stated. He also challenged any possible rival to formalize their candidacy: “They say that there are people who are moving in the shadows to present themselves, so they may present themselves.”
The press conference took place after a board meeting, in a context marked by questions about his management and rumors about his health. Pérez responded to these versions and assured that He continues at the head of both the club and his company. “I continue to preside over Real Madrid and my company, which is a world leader in infrastructure and has a turnover of 50,000 million a year, and my health is perfect,” he declared.
The president defended his permanence at the club and recalled that, since his arrival in 2000, he sought to guarantee that the institution remained under the control of his partners. “I am the last partner to leave to go”, he said. In addition, he recalled the sports balance of his stage: “With me as president we have won 66 titles, 37 in football and 29 in basketball, among them 7 European Cups in football and 3 in basketball”.
Complaints against the Negreira case and internal tension
One of the hardest moments of his intervention was directed towards FC Barcelona and the called Negreira case. Pérez reported that the club will present before UEFA a 500 page document related to that file.
“We are making a 500 page dossier that we are going to present to UEFA. How are we going to forget it? The biggest corruption case in the history of football l", he expressed. He also assured that several clubs, as he said, have felt harmed by that situation and that he expects an action from the European body.
Pérez avoided referring to coaches or possible sports movements despite the team having three league games left, including this thursday's duel a nte Real Oviedo. The club was left without options in LaLiga after Barcelona's title and was also eliminated from the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League.
The president also referred to the leakage of a discussion between Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni. He downplayed the altercation and charged against whoever disseminated the information mation. “I've been 26 years and players have hit almost every season, but it's no significant. Here what's happening is that someone has told it, and we know who,” he pointed out.
Regarding that episode, he insisted that the leak is more serious than the conflict itself: “For me the leak is worse, it's the first "It was time that I saw." He also denounced the existence of internal and external sectors that, according to he said, seek to destabilize the club.
Before closing, he reiterated that the immediate priority is the electoral process. “I want the members of Madrid to go to these elections and show who they want,” he stated, while maintaining that he will continue to defend the ownership model of the entity and rejected any attempts to change it.
