“I condemn in the strongest possible terms the vile assassination of the mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo. I express my most sincere condolences to his family and loved ones, as well as to the people of Uruapan for this irreparable loss,” the governor stated in a message posted on her social media accounts.

The governor reported that, upon learning of the crime, she immediately spoke with the governor of Michoacan, Alfredo Ramirez Bedolla, and with the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar Garcia Harfuch, who, she said, has maintained constant communication with the state prosecutor, Carlos Torres Pina, to coordinate the investigation.

Likewise, the head of state announced that she convened the Security Cabinet “to guarantee support for Michoacan and to ensure that there is no impunity.”
