The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, condemned this Sunday “with absolute firmness” the murder of the mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo Rodriguez, which occurred on the night of November 1 in Michoacan, and assured that her Government will reinforce the security strategy and will guarantee that there is no impunity in the case.

“I condemn in the strongest possible terms the vile assassination of the mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo. I express my most sincere condolences to his family and loved ones, as well as to the people of Uruapan for this irreparable loss,” the governor stated in a message posted on her social media accounts.

The governor reported that, upon learning of the crime, she immediately spoke with the governor of Michoacan, Alfredo Ramirez Bedolla, and with the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar Garcia Harfuch, who, she said, has maintained constant communication with the state prosecutor, Carlos Torres Pina, to coordinate the investigation.

Likewise, the head of state announced that she convened the Security Cabinet “to guarantee support for Michoacan and to ensure that there is no impunity.”

She noted that the territorial commanders of the National Defense Secretariat and the National Guard They maintained communication with the mayor, and he “had federal protection.”

Carlos Manzo had protection since 2024
