The Mexican president advanced that between August and September the construction of Olinia will begin, which will be sold in Mexico starting in 2027
The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, presented a video showing for the first time what the design of the Mexican electric vehicle “Olinia” will be like.
“It is intense work, of more than 80 Mexican academics, technicians, who worked intensely, many of them from different places in the country concentrated in Puebla, at the headquarters of National Technology of Mexico and there they were working days and days, months, to have the design. And now the prototype is ready. And this prototype will be presented on June 7th,” he noted.
From her morning conference, the Mexican president announced that in July the cargo prototype will be presented and between August and September the massive construction of Olinia will begin.
“In the month of July the Olinia cargo is presented, which is a small vehicle very similar that serves for small loads, in cities and starting in August, September More or less, the objective is to start construction for the development of Olinia on a large scale. This is the Mexican Olinia vehicle, electric vehicle,” he stated.
For his part, Roberto Capuano Tripp, director of the Olinia Project, assured that this small vehicle was developed based on the needs of the communities of Mexico.
“It is affordable, 100% electric, which is why it costs very little to operate. Even less than a motorcycle, it can be charged in a conventional outlet in any house or eat rcio, is large and spacious, is comfortable and for safety and the uses for which it is intended operates at a maximum speed of 50 kilometers per hour,” he assured.
In accordance with what was announced it is expected that Olinia, developed by scientists from the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) and from the National Technological Institute Mexico, begin to market in Mexico starting 2027 with a production that will reach up to 50 thousand units in the next four years.
