Cuz Azul maintains the illusion of bringing in Luka Jovic: Ivan Alonso
Ivan Alonso, Cruz Azul sporting director, highlighted the complexity of bringing in Serbian Luka Jovic, but they are not pulling out all the stops to secure his services
Serbian striker Luka Jovic remains a priority target for Cruz Azul's board of directors, despite the fact that there are still many aspects that have prevented the closing of the negotiation, which is why the sporting director of the Maquina, Ivan Alonso, assured that they have not lost their enthusiasm in completing the signing.
Alonso revealed details of the negotiations with the forward who played last season with AC Milan and where the Uruguayan director specified that the Balkan attacker remains a priority for Cruz Azul and that they hope to close his signing to strengthen their attack.
“I am not going to discover Luka Jovic as what he represents at a hierarchical level as a soccer player, the president has also expressed it in various interviews he has had recently. He is a player who is desired ”.
“He is a player that we have delved deeply into the analysis of the game and how Luka could come to make us better as a team, but also how our team is going to be much better and once again catapult the sporting career of a player of the hierarchy and the ability to Luka Jovic,” said Alonso at the commemorative event where Cruz Azul was recognized as the best team of the football year.
The complexity of the signing
It is no secret that the complications in closing the signing of Luka Jovic lie in the fact that the cement squad has not managed to place forwards Giorgos Giakoumakis and Gabriel Fernández on other teams to open the two foreign spots required to register the Argentine Jose Paradela and Jovic himself.
In this regard, Alonso said: “We are in the process of, it is not the only option, we also need a foreign spot for Luka to arrive or for the players who are also in the folder for a possible arrival, but it is a desire and a dream for the entire institution to be able to count on a player of the category and hierarchy of Luka Jovic. Hopefully we can count on him, and if not, there are other options to fill in,” he emphasized.
According to the information available, the Greek striker is being placed with an MLS team, while “El Toro” Fernandez is looking to return to his country with Penarol of Uruguay, but for a fee and negotiation that suits both parties.
“There are several inquiries for Gabriel and Giorgos. We're going to decide what the best option is for both parties. We like to make sure no one is left in a position where they think they could lose. We're analyzing each of the player's possibilities,” Alonso commented.
