Antonio Tarver predicts victory of Crawford over Canelo
Antonio Tarver explained that if Canelo Alvarez fights like he did with Caleb Plant against Crawford, it could be a great battle, but if he does not, he will lose
Antonio Tarver, commentator and former world boxing champion, predicted that Terence Crawford will defeat Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez if he can withstand the power of the Mexican on September 13 in Las Vegas.
In an interview with KO Artist Sports, Tarver explained that if Canelo Álvarez fights like he did with Caleb Plant against Crawford, it could be a great battle, but if he doesn't, he will lose.
“If he performs like he did against Scull, Berlanga, and Munguia, (he will lose). He didn't have enough activity. The last time I saw Canelo, the one who would beat this Crawford, was with Plant. Now, if that Canelo comes, it's going to be a tremendous fight. Even then, I give Crawford a chance,” he said.
“So I think that's the type of talent that Crawford has. He'll have to get used to that power. If he can handle Canelo's power, he will win the fight,” he added.
According to some of the experts' predictions, Terence Crawford will be at a disadvantage due to his weight and will not be able to defeat the Mexican, but others believe that size will not be an issue, since the American has the necessary skills to defeat the 168-pound champion in his own turf.
After the fight with Cuban William Scull, where the Mexican fighter was criticized for his lackluster performance, many sports experts have changed their minds and see Bud with real chances of winning because they think the Guadalajara native is in decline.
If the American wins, he would become a three-time undisputed champion in different weight classes and make history in the sport, while Canelo Álvarez could end Crawford's undefeated record and send him into retirement.
Terence Crawford, 38, became champion of four different divisions by defeating Israil Madrimov and remains one of the best pound for pound. The American two-time undisputed monarch now has 41 wins, 31 of them by knockouts.
For his part, Saul 'Canelo' Álvarez, 34,He became the undisputed super middleweight champion for the second time after defeating William Scull and now has a record of 63 wins (39 by knockout), two losses and two draws in his professional career.
