JM Marquez wants Chavez Jr. to knock out Paul out of respect for boxing
Dinamita Marquez tipped the scales in favor of Chavez Jr., as he would like his compatriot to let Jake Paul know that the sport is something serious.
Juan Manuel Marquez wants Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. to knock out Jake Paul out of respect for boxing when they face each other this Saturday, June 28 at the Honda Center in Anaheim.
In an interview with Pro Box TV, Dinamita Marquez was sincere and tipped the scales in favor of Chavez Jr., as he would like his compatriot to let Paul know that the sport is something that should be taken seriously.
"I wish them both success and that they come out in good health. I would like to see Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. raise his hand in victory. He has to be very effective. He has to be very good to show that boxing deserves respect, that boxing deserves all the loyalty of a boxer," he said.
"I would like to see Junior annihilate Paul like Anthony Joshua did to Francis Ngannou. By knockout and we never see him again. I would like to see that, but that they both come out in good health... Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. by knockout so that Paul can say that boxing deserves respect," I concluded.
According to sports experts, Julio César Chavez Jr. has the advantage in the fight because he is an experienced boxer, but his recent addiction problems and lack of activity in the ring could play against him against a Jake Paul who - although not as experienced - continues training.
Chavez Jr. will return to action after defeating Uriah Hall by unanimous decision in July 2024 on the undercard where Paul knocked out Mike Perry, after almost 3 years of inactivity in the ring due to his addictions and legal problems.
On the other hand, Jake Paul comes from defeating Mike Tyson by unanimous decision and breaking a viewership record on Netflix. This fight was highly criticized by fans because it exposed the former champion and he was challenged by several boxers, but in the end Chávez Jr. won the opportunity.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., 38, returned to the ring after 31 months without seeing action and defeated Uriah Hall by unanimous decision. The son of the Great Mexican Champion has a professional record of 54 wins (34 by knockout), 6 losses and a draw.
For his part, Jake Paul, 27, has four wins after suffering his first split decision loss to Tommy Fury, brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. The YouTuber also has a record of 11 wins (six by knockout) and one loss).
