Shakur Stevenson, World Boxing Council (WBC) lightweight champion, assured that he hits much harder than William 'Camaron' Zepeda and reiterated that he will beat him up on July 12.
In an interview with The Ring magazine, Stevenson indicated that Camaron Zepeda won't be able to knock him out and made it clear that he will surprise him when they step into the ring at Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York.
“Zepeda, I remember everything you just said. 'Man, Shakur doesn't want to trade with me. Man, Shakur doesn't have the guts of Tevin Farmer.' Remember these things, bro, so when we get into that (expletive) fight and I'm beating you up, don't be surprised. Just don't be surprised. That's all I'm going to say,” he said.
“I hit harder than you. I guarantee you, I hit a lot harder than you. You got 27 knockouts. I got 11, and I hit harder than you. Remember that. If you didn't stop the last guy you faced (Farmer), what makes you think you're going to stop me? That (expletive) sounds ridiculous, you're just talking. I know when (people) He just talks, now he knows it. He's been with me before, he knows it," he added.
According to experts and sports connoisseurs, Camaron Zepeda could cause problems for Shakur Stevenson due to his aggressive style. The American tends to move a lot in the ring and has been criticized for the lack of action in his fights.
In fact, Turki Alalshikh has already made it clear that he will no longer support runner boxers during the Riyadh season due to the boring fights on May 2 and 3. This puts pressure on Stevenson and he will surely have to opt for an exchange with the powerful Zepeda.
After surgery on his hand, the American champion returned to action in February and knocked out Josh Padley on a card in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Instead, Camaron Zepeda arranged a rematch against Tevin Farmer and repeated the result of the first fight. With this victory, the Mexican defended his position as WBC mandatory challenger and will now seek to become the absolute champion against Shakur Stevenson.
Shakur Stevenson,26, is coming off a victory over Josh Padley, who replaced the injured Floyd Schofield Jr., to defend his WBC lightweight championship. The American has a record of 22 wins, 11 by knockout, and no losses.
Meanwhile, William 'Camaron' Zepeda, 28, retained his interim WBC lightweight title against Farmer again and remains undefeated in the sport. The Mexican fighter has a record of 33 wins and no losses, 27 of them by knockout.
