Santiago Gimenez’s position at Milan is in danger
Massimiliano Allegri is reportedly considering reinforcing the club’s attack with some big names. Santiago Gimenez’s entourage is reportedly rethinking his future.
AC Milan had a season to forget in 2024-2025. The Italian team was left out of European competitions. Massimiliano Allegri was the coach selected to recover the Italian giant. But to achieve that goal, Santiago Giménez could be a sacrifice.
The arrival of Massimiliano Allegri completely changes Santiago Giménez's status. "El Bebote" is facing a coach who didn't ask for his signing. The respected Italian strategist is reportedly considering making some significant signings for the attack.
Reports mention several important names in Italian football or who, in their leagues, are key players. The names to watch are Mateo Retegui, Dusan Vlahovic, Darwin Núñez, and Ciro Immobile. In this sense, Giménez would lose space at AC Milan.
"All the top-level names that would arrive at Millanelo as starters would mean Giménez would be relegated to the bench as a luxury substitute, with the risk of getting few playing minutes, especially since Milan will not play in European competitions," explains the report by Italian journalist Nicolò Schira.
In this sense, "El Bebote" could look for new alternatives inside or outside the Rossoneri team. Santiago Giménez is currently competing in the Gold Cup with the Mexican national team. This could be a good showcase to promote a loan.
"That is why Giménez's entourage could start to hear interest from other clubs," adds the report. AC Milan finished eighth in Serie A. Without participating in European competitions, Massimiliano Allegri's rotations will be less frequent.
Santiago Giménez at AC Milan
In February 2025, Santiago Giménez joined AC Milan from Feyenoord. The Mexican striker's arrival at the club coincided with the Rossoneri's worst period. "El Bebote" was only a symptom of a collective illness.
The former Cruz Azul player participated in 19 matches for AC Milan. During that number of matches, the Mexican scored 6 goals and provided 3 assists. The "Bebote" is valued at just over $33 million and has a contract with the club until June 2029.
