Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has indicated an all-out fight against the wrestlers. He will fight with all his might to prove his innocence. He has been accused of sexual harassment by top wrestlers in India. In a video message, the BJP MP, without mentioning the allegations against him, indicated that he would not give up as long as he had the strength to fight.
He said in the video "Friends, the day I will consider my life what I have gained or lost, the day I will feel that I do not have the strength to fight, the day I will feel helpless, I will not live that kind of life. I would like to live. Rather than live a life like this, I want death to embrace me."
Star wrestlers including World Championship medalist Vinesh Phogat, Olympic medalist Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik have accused Brij Bhushan of sexual harassment and are sitting on an indefinite strike at Jantar Mantar.
The government had constituted an inspection committee to investigate the serious allegations leveled against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. After this the wrestlers ended their strike. Even after three months, the report of the inquiry committee has not come out and the wrestlers have resumed their agitation against the head of the Wrestling Federation of India.
The Sports Ministry has not yet made public the report of the six-member inquiry committee. The committee had submitted its report on April 5 itself, but many controversies are coming to the fore. Babita Phogat, who was a member of the committee, has expressed her disagreement with the report and has accused Radhika Sriman of snatching the report and misbehaving. Wrestlers are continuing to protest and they are getting support from politicians as well. Gradually the protest is getting bigger and the pressure is increasing on Brij Bhushan Singh. However, he has indicated to continue the fight.
