America strengthens its squad with forward Diego Rocio from Real Salt Lake of MLS
Club America has added a young Mexican-American talent to its ranks, Diego Rocio, who has even represented Mexico at the U-18 level
America's Eagles, just before the transfer window closed, added a young talent to their ranks from Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer (MLS), who recently represented Mexico at the U-18 level. This is the Mexican-American Diego Rocio.
Rocio arrives on loan with the intention of boosting her career with Club America, joining a squad that has suffered the losses of Alvaro Fidalgo, Allan Saint-Maximin, and Rodrigo Aguirre. These three, along with Brazilian Raphael Vega, are the only two new additions for the Clausura 2026 tournament.
Rocio recently joined Real Salt Lake, where she was part of the MLS NEXT Pro project and subsequently signed a contract with the first team. However, the North American club decided to loan her out to gain more playing time and competitive experience in Liga MX, hoping she will improve her stats and develop as a player after only playing in lower divisions in the United States, such as Real Monarchs and RSL Academy, participating in two league matches. One of her most outstanding moments came in the 2025 MLS NEXT Cup, where she was instrumental in eliminating her former team, the Philadelphia Union U-18, by scoring a penalty in the 3-0 quarterfinal victory. Rocio caught the attention of Club America because her profile includes important aspects such as her dual nationality, having represented both the United States and Mexico at the youth levels, as was the case with her last call-up to the Mexican U-18 squad, where she played two matches in September 2025. The arrival of the young striker comes at a key moment for Club America, which is currently experiencing a difficult start to the 2026 Clausura tournament, having only managed one victory against Necaxa in the last match, a result they replicated in the 2026 Concacaf Champions League against Olimpia of Honduras midweek. The young player is already familiar with the Club America colors, having faced them in the 2025 Leagues Cup, where they drew 2-2 and the North American team won on penalties in a match where luck was not on their side.
