A leak reveals the possible Xiaomi YU9, a seven-seat plug-in hybrid SUV that would seek to compete in the high range
Xiaomi seems determined to accelerate its plans in the automotive industry. While it is still gaining prominence with its first electrified vehicles, new leaked images anticipate the arrival of a much larger and more familiar model that could significantly expand the company's offering.

Under the name YU9, this future SUV would have space for seven passengers and would opt for an extended-range plug-in hybrid configuration.

The formula seeks to combine the practicality of an electrified vehicle with the peace of mind of autonomy capable of facing long trips without worries.
A design that maintains the DNA of the brand
The photographs that began to circulate show a large body, with a robust presence and a silhouette clearly oriented towards the premium segment.
Some features already seen in other Xiaomi products also stand out, especially in the front lighting signature. The set retains a modern and technological appearance, a characteristic that the brand has made an essential part of its visual identity.
Preliminary information indicates that the YU9 would use a 1.5-liter turbo engine intended primarily to generate power for the electrical system.
That propellant would work together with two electric motors and a high-capacity battery. Thanks to this combination, various sources indicate that the joint power could exceed 400 horsepower.
The most optimistic estimates speak of an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h close to five seconds, a remarkable figure for a vehicle of this size.
Autonomy as the main argument
One of the aspects that draws the most attention is the projected autonomy. Reports suggest that the SUV could reach up to 1,500 kilometers combining electric power and fuel.
On the other hand, in fully electric mode it would have the capacity to travel around 200 kilometers, a record that would place it among the plug-in hybrids with the longest range on the market.
Forecasts from China place the future YU9 within the electrified premium SUV segment. In addition to its size and technology, Xiaomi would seek to differentiate itself through a proposal focused on connectivity and integration with its ecosystem of devices.
Regarding the price, current estimates place it in an approximate range of between $50,000 and $70,000. Although there is still no official confirmation, everything indicates that Xiaomi wants to compete directly with established manufacturers in one of the most profitable and in-demand categories on the market.
