Gas prices will fall below $4 for the first time since April, says GasBuddy analyst
Gasoline prices at US pumps hit their highest levels since 2023 due to Middle East conflict
Since the conflict in the Middle East began, causing the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and skyrocketing oil prices, the cost of gasoline in the United States has risen to one of its highest levels since mid-2023, weighing on the pockets of consumers, who now had to pay 50% more.
However, the announcement of the agreement between the United States and Iran and the recent drop in oil prices could lead to a decrease in the cost of fuel at American pumps in the coming weeks and represent relief for family budgets.
This Monday, Patrick De Haan, an oil analyst at GasBuddy, published on the social network X that the national average price of gasoline was below $4 per gallon; Although the cost remains above pre-conflict levels, it is a good sign amid successive increases.
However, the analyst who had previously assured that gasoline prices would remain high during the summer if an agreement was not reached to end the war, was expectant when questioning whether this decrease will be permanent, since he considers that it is too early to know.
For its part, the report from the American Automobile Association (AAA) indicates that the average price of gasoline is still above $4 per gallon; In addition, it details that diesel costs $5.18 and E85 costs $3.12.
