Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will seek to give the best fight of his career when he steps back into the ring on January 24 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, against Argentinian Angel Julian Sacco.
In an official press conference for his upcoming bout, Chavez Jr. declared that he wants to make up for lost time and will use the years he has left to achieve what he couldn't in his prime. "I'm coming to box because I love boxing, because I want to get back in the ring, something that unfortunately didn't happen in my best years because of my youth, my immaturity, being Julio Cesar Chavez's son, the money I earned, and my shady dealings, but that's all in the past," he said. "I have two years to do what I perhaps didn't do at some point. I'm coming to San Luis not to fight just another fight, but to try to give the best fight of my career," he added. The news that the Mexican would return to action despite his legal problems was announced by his own father a few weeks ago, but it wasn't until now that it became official. It's worth remembering that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is currently facing charges due to an arrest warrant in Mexico. He is linked to the Sinaloa Cartel for organized crime and arms trafficking offenses. However, a federal judge granted him conditional release, a decision that the Attorney General's Office has appealed. Previously, the boxer had struggled with addiction and legal issues in Los Angeles for possession of a fake gun in early 2024. After entering rehab and having the charges dismissed, Junior returned to the ring with a victory over Uriah Hall on July 20 of that same year. In his last fight before his arrest, the Mexican lost to the famous YouTuber Jake Paul by unanimous decision. Now the 38-year-old son of the Great Mexican Champion, who has a professional record of 54 wins (34 by knockout), 7 losses, and one draw.
