David Benavidez chooses his favorite between Paul and Joshua
David Benavidez commented that he recognizes what Paul has done, but Joshua's experience gives him a big advantage and predicted a possible knockout
David Benavidez, WBC light heavyweight champion, chose Anthony Joshua as the favorite to beat Jake Paul on December 19 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.
In an interview with FightHub TV, Benavidez commented that he recognizes what Paul has done well, but Joshua's experience gives him a big advantage, and he predicted a possible knockout. "I have 100% respect for Jake Paul, but that's a dangerous fight for him. He'll probably get knocked out, and I'm not trying to be a hater, I'm not saying anything bad. Anthony Joshua is Anthony Joshua. He's a multi-champion, an Olympic medalist. The last time someone without much experience stepped up to the ring with him was (Francis) Ngannou, and you saw what happened to him," he said. The fight between Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul will be an official bout and will be contested in the heavyweight division. The fight will last eight rounds—each three minutes long—with 10-ounce gloves, and will be streamed worldwide on Netflix.
Recall that the YouTuber-turned-boxer was scheduled to fight Gervonta Davis on November 14th, but because 'Tank' was recently accused by his ex-girlfriend Courtney Rossel of assault, kidnapping, and false imprisonment, the fight was canceled.
Paul expressed his anger about what happened and assured everyone he would find an opponent soon. To everyone's surprise, the influencer chose Joshua, and most sports experts predict the Briton should win easily. However, some experts, like Tyson Fury, see the American fighter as having a chance.
Anthony Joshua, 36, was knocked out in his last fight against Daniel Dubois last September. The British WBA lightweight regular has a record of 28 wins, 25 of them by knockout, and four losses. Jake Paul, 27, has five wins after suffering his first loss to Tommy Fury, brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, by split decision. The American YouTuber also has a record of 12 wins (six by knockout) and one loss.
