Argentine coach Diego Cocca accepted that, although Atlas FC has shown improvement in the last few rounds of the Liga MX Apertura 2025 tournament, that reaction might not be enough to get into the Liguilla.

“We improved in many aspects; the question is whether that will give us the possibility. of being where we want to be. convey to the squad the idea that you always have to want more," said the red and black coach at a press conference.

This is how the Liga MX table is going

Atlas needs to finish strong to dream of the Liguilla

After defeating Necaxa and Juarez FC, Atlas occupies eleventh place on the table with 13 points out of 36 possible.

The Guadalajara team is forced to earn a large number of points in the five remaining matches to keep their hopes of advancing to the quarterfinals of the Apertura 2025 alive.

The team led by Cocca will face San Luis, Leon, Guadalajara, Toluca and Tijuana in the coming matches, direct rivals in the fight for the qualification spots.

"They are difficult matches, we are going to take it one by one; to try to get the most points because our objective is to reach the last matchday with opportunities to qualify," added the Argentine coach.

Key visit against San Luis

Atlas FC will open the 13th matchday of the tournament visiting Atletico San Luis this Friday, who occupies the fifteenth position. Cocca anticipated an intense duel due to the needs of both teams.

"San Luis is definitely thinking of it as a final, especially since it's at home. We're going to find an opponent eager to fight," said the coach.

The coach emphasized that the break for the FIFA World Cup served to recover injured players, including Spanish defender Rober Pier and captain Aldo Rocha, who did special physical training to avoid further discomfort.
