From Ecuador they criticize the logistics problems before the match against Mexico
Sebastián Beccacece, Ecuador coach, spoke about the flight delays. It hadn't happened to them before
The Ecuadorian team will face Mexico in the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup. However, La Tri comes to this match with some problems. The flights were delayed and this angered Sebastián Beccacece, coach of the South American team.
The Mexican team and Ecuador will face each other this Tuesday, June 30. This duel will take place at the Mexico City Stadium, also known as the Azteca Stadium. South Americans have less than 24 hours in Mexican territory. This would have occurred due to flight delays.
"We are delayed three hours longer than what was established. We don't know why; we were scheduled to arrive at six in the afternoon, Mexico time. My players still haven't arrived, they are about to arrive in five minutes. It ended up being a nine-hour flight," said the Ecuador coach.
Sebastián Beccacece highlighted that this had not happened to him during his three previous matches at the 2026 World Cup. This can be read as a hint at “extra-sports games” to give the home team an advantage. Despite this, Beccacece does not use this as an excuse before the commitment.
"We arrived today, we faced it, we competed, we played, we made no complaints; this team has a lot of love for what it does. Regarding the altitude, we will have to draw strength and redouble our efforts to fulfill the dream," he added.
