Kevin Mier and Willer Ditta, sent to the bench in the classic vs. America for alleged indiscipline
Kevin Mier and Willer Ditta allegedly violated Cruz Azul's internal regulations by reporting after the established deadline and therefore did not start vs. America
Colombians Kevin Mier and Willer Ditta did not appear in Cruz Azul's lineup for the important match against America, because supposedly coach Nicolas Larcamon imposed a disciplinary corrective on them for having reported from the FIFA date with a 48-hour delay.
It was undoubtedly very strange to see two of the key players in the Machine's lineup in the 204th edition of this rivalry and in their place appeared goalkeeper Raul Gudino and rookie center back Jorge Rodarte, which generated all kinds of comments.
But after the back and forth of rumors regarding coach Larcamon's technical decision, Televisa commentator David Faitelson along with field reporter Gibran Araige, decided to air the alleged reasons for sending both Colombians to the substitute list.
In that sense, both members of the broadcasting staff of the broadcasting company Chapultepec 18, they revealed that both Colombian players were expected at Cruz Azul's afternoon training session on Wednesday, but both arrived 48 hours later because they supposedly missed the flight arranged for them by their national team staff from New York where they tied up with Canada on Tuesday.
Mier and Ditta reported until Friday, as revealed by Gibran Araige himself: "They arrived until Friday to practice with Cruz Azul, but they were supposed to arrive on Wednesday afternoon; they mentioned that the flight was delayed, but Alvaro Angulo (Pumas), who also went with the Colombian national team, did arrive, and played today vs. Monterrey. It was then that coach Larcamon spoke with his board and with the team president, engineer Victor Velazquez, to make this decision.
The strange thing is that the sanction was so lenient and that the two Colombians appeared on the bench, especially when other unconfirmed versions assured that Ditta and Wed, they went partying on Wednesday and Thursday, deciding to report until Friday.
The attitude of the two Colombians generated a lot of annoyance among the coaching staff and management of Cruz Azul, considering that it was a sign of disinterest in the face of such an important match against America, and they decided to support the coach with the disciplinary measure.
But in the end, at least the management supported their coach for a few hours, even though they did not want to shoot themselves in the foot and not dispense with the two, taking into account the quality of the rival they had in front of them.
Fortunately, for the interests of the cement workers, they ended up prevailing over their bitter rival to add the 62nd victory over America in the 204th edition between both teams, with goals from Uruguayans Gabriel Fernandez and Ignacio Rivero for the Maquina Celeste and Brian Rodriguez for the Aguilas.
