Shohei Ohtani items auctioned for more than $500,000
Several Dodgers items from the 2025 postseason and part of Ohtani's history in 2024 were auctioned
Two bats used by Shohei Ohtani during the last two Dodgers seasons were auctioned for more than $500,000.
One bat that Ohtani used to hit five home runs in the 2024 season, the year he won The trophy for 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases were auctioned for $300,000. Meanwhile, the ball from the second home run hit by the Japanese player in the historic fourth game of the 2015 Championship Series against the Milwaukee Brewers was auctioned for $270,000. In that game, Ohtani hit three home runs, in addition to pitching six scoreless innings.
The items were among those offered in SCP Auctions' Premier Fall Sale, which closed Saturday.
Items from the Dodgers' 2025 World Series also went up for auction
Home run balls hit by the Dodgers in Game 7 of their World Series victory over the Toronto Blue Jays also sold.
Will Smith's extra-inning home run, which secured the win in Game 7, fetched $168,000.
Meanwhile, the ball from Venezuelan Miguel Rojas' historic ninth-inning home run to tie the series went for $156,000.
The Dodgers will be looking to make history in 2026 if they win the A three-peat, something no team has achieved since the New York Yankees did it in the 1998-2000 seasons.
Mets and Rangers trade stars
The Texas Rangers traded Gold Glove-winning second baseman Marcus Semien to the New York Mets in exchange for outfielder Brandon Nimmo and cash.
The deal, announced Monday, ends Nimmo's 10-year career with the Mets. According to reports, Nimmo agreed to waive the no-trade clause in the eight-year, $162 million contract he signed after the 2022 season.
As part of the trade, the Mets will send Texas $5 million by September 18. Semien has three seasons and $72 million remaining on the seven-year, $175 million contract he signed with the Rangers in December 2021.
