Vinícius Jr. ends the silence and talks about the falls of Real Madrid
The Brazilian believes that the changes in coaches and the lack of experience took their toll on Real Madrid. Vinícius Jr. has no problems with Mbappé
Brazilian striker Vinícius Júnior explained the reasons that, in his opinion, have led his club, Real Madrid, not to win titles during the last two seasons, among which he cited the change of coaches, the arrival of new players and the lack of experienced footballers.
In an interview with the CazéTV channel broadcast in full this morning, the Canarinha attacker also reaffirmed his intention to renew his contract with the merengue discipline, which ends on June 30, 2027.
Vinícius gathered with his team this Wednesday in Teresópolis, in the mountain region of Rio de Janeiro, after a season without titles at Real Madrid, the second in a row without major trophies.
In this context, the 7 gave his clues about this new failure of his team. First of all, he alluded to the unexpected defeats at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
"We ended up failing in games in which we couldn't fail, you can't lose games at home. And in the games where you have to draw, you lose, and you lose points, the distance increases and the other team (Barcelona in the League) gains confidence," he expressed.
He also blamed the bump in the departure of Carlo Ancelotti, now at the head of Brazil, and “the change of coaches” this last year, first with Xabi Alonso and then with Álvaro Arbeloa.
Likewise, he mentioned the arrival of new colleagues who took the place of others who had more experience.
"We no longer have as many experienced players as in recent seasons, like Nacho, Carvajal played more, Luka Modric, Toni (Kroos). They are players who make a lot of difference," he explained.
"Now there is me, Bellingham, Fede (Valverde), who have a lot of experience, but at the locker room level we are not old enough to carry that baggage, but we are learning. Next season we will be better, more compact and we are going to change that story," he added.
Regarding his relationship with Kylian Mbappé, he denied rumors about alleged friction with the French attacker in the locker room and said that they “always” try to be together off the field.
"I always had a good relationship with him. I sent him many messages asking him to come play here. We still haven't managed to play the way we want and win the titles we want, but in the very near future we are going to reverse the situation," he insisted.
Vini referred to Mbappé as a “legendary” player, of “world class”, and was convinced that “he will mark an era at Real Madrid”. “He's already marking it,” he corrected himself.
The former Flamengo player also commented on the negotiation process with Real Madrid to renew his contract and insisted that he had “never” imagined himself outside the club.
"It is the club of my dreams (...) I want to stay here all my life and I am in no rush to renew. Until 2027 I have a lot to talk about with Real Madrid, and Real Madrid has a lot to talk about with us. Madrid is calm and I am calm. The president (Florentino Pérez) trusts me and I trust him; it's just waiting," he said.
However, he did express his intention to one day return to Flamengo, the Rio de Janeiro team where he trained.
"Not now, but I'm not going to come back that old either. I miss Flamengo. I have to win the Libertadores with Flamengo," he said.
