The top election official of America's north-eastern state Maine has dealt a blow to former President Donald Trump. The case pertains to Trump's role in the 2021 Capitol Hill riot. Maine State Secretary of State Shena Lee Bellows ruled against Trump, citing the provision of constitutional rebellion in the case. Under this, Trump cannot participate in the presidential election race to be held in 2024. In such a situation, now Trump will not be able to participate in the primary elections to be held in the state of Maine to become the presidential candidate of the Republican Party. Earlier, similar restrictions were imposed on Trump in Colorado. However, the option to challenge the decisions in the Supreme Court still remains.
