California faces abnormal drought in more than half the state
More than 51% of California is in abnormal drought, according to NOAA's most recent report; the most affected areas are in the northern and central parts of the state
Half of California is under abnormal drought conditions, according to the report released this Thursday May 14 by the U.S. Drought Monitor.
According to data collected this Tuesday May 12, the specialists considered that the conditions continue to extend throughout California, until registering some areas with a moderate drought level, in the northern and southeast of the state.
The map published in the report shows that the northern and central counties of California are classified as “abnormally dry” or in “moderate drought,” which represent the first two levels of the drought scale.
