Los Angeles moves forward with ordinance against undercover agents
Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approves ordinance banning officers with masks; second vote required, December 9
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved, in a first vote, a proposed ordinance to prohibit law enforcement officers, including ICE agents, from wearing masks or concealing their identities when conducting police operations in the county.
The ordinance, which was proposed by Supervisor Janice Hahn, with Supervisor Lindsey Horvath as co-author, passed the measure with four votes in favor and none against. A second vote is still required, scheduled for December 9. If passed, the measure will prohibit all local, state, and federal law enforcement officers from wearing masks while interacting with residents while working in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County.
