Senator Amy Klobuchar runs for governor of Minnesota committed to removing ICE from the state
Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar, Democrat, announced her candidacy for governor with the goal of removing ICE from the state
Democrat Amy Klobuchar launched her campaign to govern Minnesota, making it clear that one of her commitments will be to remove Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from the state.
Through In a video posted on the platform Twitter, the 65-year-old senator recalled several violent incidents that have shattered the peace of Minnesota residents, such as the murder of former Democratic Representative Melissa Hortman in June; and a shooting at the Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, where two children lost their lives and more than a dozen people were injured in August; and the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti this month at the hands of federal agents.
In this regard, she pledged to do everything necessary to stop any manifestation of aggression that puts citizens at risk.
“Minnesotarians, we have been through a lot. And I believe this moment demands determination, resilience, and faith in each other. I believe we must stand up for what is right and correct what is wrong. Today I announce my candidacy for governor,” she stated.
In her message, Klobuchar lashed out against the position taken by the federal government in deploying hundreds of federal agents to Minneapolis who, far from improving security, have violently repressed a segment of the population for opposing the detention of immigrants without legal status.
“Three thousand agents on our streets and in our cities, sent by an administration that thrives on division. We cannot hide how difficult this is. These times demand leaders who stand up and do not hold back.” "Not only to certify the decisions of this administration, but also to be willing to find common ground and solve our state's problems," she emphasized. Improvements in education, affordable housing, and higher-quality healthcare are among the other issues on Amy Klobuchar's agenda. “I want to be a transformative governor. Now is the time to renew our commitment to the common good. I invite Democrats, independents, and Republicans to join our campaign,” she emphasized.
