Hispanic man arrested on suspicion of killing his ex-partner in Orange County

A Hispanic man was arrested on the California border with Mexico on suspicion of having shot dead his ex-partner last week in the city of Tustin, in Orange County.
Juan Marquez, 47, of Hawthorne, was detained on May 16 at the San Ysidro border post and was later booked into the Orange County Jail on charges of murder in the death of Sandra Fernandez, 42.
According to the Tustin Police Department (TPD), Márquez, who was the victim's ex-partner, fled to the border with Mexico after committing the crime and was detained in San Ysidro two days later when he tried to re-enter the country.
