Roslain Perdomo, 36, was arrested in Miami after police found her daughter malnourished and living in a squalid, cockroach-infested home without food
A Florida woman was arrested after being accused of allowing her three-year-old daughter to live in extremely unsanitary conditions, including what authorities described as a "severe lice infestation" in the child's hair. Roslain Perdomo, 36, remains in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and faces a charge of child neglect without causing great bodily harm. The incident occurred on Sunday, according to court documents. According to an affidavit cited by local media, a Miami Police Department officer was patrolling the area of ??Northwest Fourth Avenue and Northwest Eighth Street when he observed a naked adult woman with a naked child on the corner of the intersection. The officer approached to ask what was happening and if they needed assistance. The woman, later identified as Perdomo, explained that her daughter “was agitated and wanted to go outside,” so she decided to accompany her. However, when she tried to return to the residence, the child allegedly resisted. The officer instructed the mother to take the child and return home, but according to the report, she was unable to do so “safely.” The document also indicates that the woman may have been under the influence of alcohol. Given the situation, the police officer requested support from the Special Victims Unit. Signs of Malnutrition and Infested Home Upon assessing the minor's condition, authorities detected, in addition to the lice infestation, that the girl "appeared malnourished" and expressed hunger and thirst. Perdomo allowed officers to enter the home to search for clothing. Inside, the officers found an environment described as unsanitary. According to the report, there was no edible food in the house, and cockroaches were found on the food, furniture, and clothing. The refrigerator and freezer were empty and also infested. Additionally, an officer observed what appeared to be a large piece of marijuana in plain sight, near the child's toys.
