An investigation that lasted several years led to the arrest of 9 people and the seizure of 60 kilograms of cocaine with a value of 2.1 million dollars
Nine people were arrested and 60 kilograms of cocaine, with an estimated value of $2.1 million, was seized following a multi-year investigation into a major drug trafficking organization operating in Pinellas County.
During a press conference, Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri and Florida Department of Law Enforcement Tampa Bay Regional Operations Center Special Agent in Charge Mark Dubina detailed the results of “Operation Hall of Fame,” an investigation targeting alleged drug trafficker Daniel Pinales, 35.
“This is the largest drug seizure from a single drug dealer in Pinellas County that I am aware of in the last 40 years,” Gualtieri stated.
The amount of cocaine that Daniel Pinales distributed on the streets of Pinellas County was simply astronomical.
According to investigators, detectives spent several years investigating Pinales after receiving information that he was a major cocaine distributor in Pinellas County.
The investigation revealed that Pinales allegedly obtained multi-kilogram shipments of cocaine from suppliers in El Paso, Texas, and distributed the drug throughout the county.
Authorities indicated that cocaine was transported monthly from Texas to Florida in trucks. Detectives discovered that the transport operation consisted of one operating truck towing two others as camouflage to hide the drug trafficking network.
Investigators said the couriers, based in Texas, traveled to a hotel in Wesley Chapel before meeting with Pinales, who received duffel bags containing kilograms of cocaine. The drugs were allegedly stored in a safe house in Tampa before being distributed to customers in Pinellas County.
On July 10, detectives conducted surveillance on one of the shipments as it traveled from El Paso to Florida. Florida. Authorities observed the suspects transferring three duffel bags from a truck to a rented SUV before meeting Pinales in a secluded parking lot in Tampa.
According to investigators, the duffel bags were transferred to Pinales' vehicle. When detectives attempted to arrest him, Pinales fled, but was later apprehended.

The organization transported about $1 million in drug proceeds back to Texas each trip, and the operation brought similar amounts of cocaine into the area each month.
Gualtieri said the investigation remains active and more arrests are possible as detectives continue to examine the organization's connections in Texas and elsewhere.
