An 18-year-old New Jersey man is accused of murdering his grandmother after police, responding to a 911 call, found the 69-year-old woman dead in a second-floor bedroom with knives stuck in her face.
Louis Brown, 18, of Jackson Township, was charged May 18 with murder and unlawful possession of a weapon in connection with the death of Darlene Brown, 69, according to a news release from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.
Police responded to a residence on Justin Way around 7:00 a.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting a murder, according to the statement. Prosecutors indicated that Brown was the one who made the call.
Officers responding to the call found Brown at the front door of the residence. He left the house with his hands up and was immediately detained while officers investigated, according to the statement.
Inside a second-floor bedroom, officers found Darlene Brown dead with apparent stab wounds to her face and neck, according to authorities.
Investigators also observed two knives stuck in the victim, according to prosecutors.
Brown was taken to the Ocean County Jail, where he remained in custody pending a detention hearing.
