Alex Fernández clarifies his position regarding the controversy over the tribute album to his grandfather
The singer spoke out about his uncle Vicente Fernández Jr.'s decision not to include family members in the tribute album to his grandfather
The singer Alex Fernández, a member of one of the most famous dynasties in Mexico, reappeared before the public to clarify the controversy that surrounds his family for not being included in the tribute album to his grandfather, the late Vicente Fernández.
In a recent meeting with the press, the singer of “El tiempo no excusa” denied harboring any type of resentment for not participating in the musical project produced by his uncle, Vicente Fernández Jr.
Furthermore, he denied that the message he issued weeks ago was intended to minimize the artists who did collaborate on the album, including the singer Ángela Aguilar. "My statement was not to offend anyone, far from it," he stated and added: "There was talk that I was jealous, that I was angry because I had no participation in the album. Neither."
In this sense, the son of “El Potrillo” took advantage of the microphones to dismiss the versions in which it is stated that he is preparing a collaboration with Pepe Aguilar's daughter: “I already clarified that a long time ago in an interview, that this is not true, because there has never been a proposal to do a collaboration,” he declared.
Despite this reality, he reiterated that there is no distancing or rivalry between any of the artists that are part of the album “Tributo al Rey con Banda”, a project headed by Vicente Fernández Jr., where the following participate: Ángela Aguilar, Christian Nodal, Edén Muñoz and Banda El Recodo, to mention a few.
Alex Fernández's words come just a few days after his uncle Vicente shared his own position on the controversy. Regarding the absence of the deceased interpreter's grandchildren, the famous actor declared:
"It is very important to define that the places are through the musical career and the musical history that each one has earned. It would look very bad on my part to have an album with Alejandro Fernández, Alex, Camila, América, Emiliano, Valentina, Ramón, there is me, then it could be taken as nepotism or abuse of power," he commented.
As if that were not enough, he announced that there are already plans to expand the project in tribute to 'Don Chente' with a volume 2 in which the participation of Alejandro and Camila Fernández has already been confirmed.
“Yes, they are invited in the next project, even they have already chosen the songs they are going to perform (…) They have the invitation because of the acceptance that each of them has had with the public, that is why they were taken into account, not because they are children of or grandchildren of,” he said during his time on the program “La Mesa Caliente.”
