Costa Rican actress and singer Maribel Guardia clarified in an interview with the program 'Ventaneando' that it is false that she lost a lawsuit against her former daughter-in-law, Imelda Tunon, regarding the custody of her grandson, José Julián, son of deceased singer Julián Figueroa.
Guardia assured that the legal proceedings are still ongoing and there have been no changes: "No lawsuit has been lost; it's fake news. Everything remains the same." Regarding living with her grandson, she mentioned that a judge will decide on future visits.
Regarding Tunon's statements, who stated that the child doesn't ask about his grandmother, Maribel responded: "He's very intelligent. When he was with me, he didn't ask about his mother either, not out of lack of love, but to protect her." She assured that her grandson loves her and trusts that, in time, he will look for her himself.
In a past statement, Tunon was clear in saying that her son had no intention of seeing his grandmother.
“I would like to clarify that at the moment there has been no rapprochement between JJ (José Julián) and his grandmother since he expressed to me that he is not willing to see her,” she began in a message shared on her Instagram account.
In addition, she recalled that no agreement has yet been reached regarding visits: "A legal agreement for visitation has not yet been reached. Hearts take time to heal, but I trust that God will help us resolve everything in the best way for both parties."
Despite this, she added that she is open to a relationship between her son and her grandmother.
“I am always open to any rapprochement if he wants it, because he can approach me and with I'm glad I can see the way they can see each other," she mentioned.
And the reconciliation?
The actress acknowledged that her relationship with Imelda will never be the same: "A plate was broken here a long time ago." However, she stated that all her actions were for the good of the child.
For her part, Imelda Tunon declared that she had forgiven Maribel, Although she considered the conflict unnecessary, she revealed that Guardia sent Jose Julian a birthday gift, which opens the door to a possible reconciliation: "If it were just her and me, there would be a rapprochement."
