Scarlett Johansson Becomes the Highest-Grossing Actress in History with Jurassic World Rebirth
The American star was crowned the most successful box office star, surpassing her Marvel colleagues, Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Downey Jr.
Scarlett Johansson has added another achievement to her list: she has become the highest-grossing actress in history thanks to the success of her most recent project on the big screen, “Jurassic World Rebirth”. We tell you the details!
According to the Hypebeast portal, the new installment of the “Jurassic World” franchise grossed $318 million dollars worldwide, which catapulted the value of the famous filmography to just over $14.8 billion dollars.
With this figure, Scarlett Johansson places herself above cinema legends such as Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Downey Jr., who stand at $14.6 billion dollars and $14.3 billion dollars, with 71 and 45 films, respectively.
This power also translates into the average collection of her MCU co-stars per film. The “Marriage Story” star has an average worldwide box office of $405.9 million, ahead of Jackson’s $205.7 million and Downey Jr.’s $318.1 million.
Johansson made her big screen debut in 1994 with the comedy “North,” at age 10. However, she was catapulted to stardom in 2003 after her role in Sofia Coppola’s “Lost in Translation.” Since then, her filmography includes titles such as “North Star,” “The Far Side of the Moon,” “Black Widow,” as well as Marvel’s “Avengers” saga, and she recently joined “Jurassic World Rebirth.”
The latter is a continuation of the franchise starring Chris Pratt, now with faces such as Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali. Additionally, in its first six days in theaters worldwide, the film has grossed $318 million.
According to Scarlett Johansson herself, being part of this story has been a dream of hers for several years: “I was like, 'Show me the sets! I want to be in it,'” she said in an interview with ComicBook.com.
“I’ve been trying to get into this franchise for over 10 years in any way I can. I told them, ‘I’ll die in the first five minutes! I can eat anything! I’ll work in food service. I’ll do anything to get in,’” he added.
