Why is Cardi B destroying BIA on her new album? The complete history of beef
BIA and Cardi B are two important figures in today's rap. Before, they admired each other, but now, the reality is different and their verses confirm it.
What began as mutual admiration turned into a war of verses, social media, and personal attacks. The feud between Cardi B and BIA, two of the most influential female figures in rap today, has escalated to unprecedented levels—and it all seems to revolve around pride, rhythm... and Cardi's children.
How did it all start?
Originally, BIA was a fan of Cardi B. But the relationship took a radical turn in 2021, when BIA collaborated with Nicki Minaj on the remix of her viral hit 'Whole Lotta Money'. That gesture—joining the "opposing side" in the eternal Cardi vs. Nicki rivalry—didn't sit well with Cardi. Since then, the two artists have traded innuendos on social media, but it wasn't in 2023 that things got serious.
That year, BIA released 'I'M THAT (Expletive)', sampling Missy Elliott's classic 'She's a Bitch'. Shortly after, Cardi responded with "Like What (Freestyle)," using the same sample. Cardi claimed that her song had already been recorded before—coincidence? Fans didn't believe it.
The spark that lit the bomb came with BIA's remix of "Btch Duh," where she rapped in English:
"I hear bitches poppin' shit and that's so funny to me / How you say you run, but you can't walk to the beat?"
Many interpreted this as a direct attack on Cardi, who months earlier had rejected participating in a remix of Ice Spice's "Munch," publicly admitting that she couldn't "get the beat." A professional criticism... that turned personal.
But Cardi didn't stay silent. In 2024, she released 'Wanna Be', where she made her disdain clear:
“She do what? I had no idea, I thought she on the Ikea shelf / I hope she talk like that when I see her, bitch please, nobody wanna be you [BIA].”
That's when BIA crossed the red line: on her track 'SUE MEEE?', she directly mentioned Kulture and Wave, Cardi's children:
“I thought your ass was for the culture, you just tryna ride the wave / You should be home with your kids because, pta,You talk like you're in second grade.”
Cardi B’s response
For Cardi, attacking her children was like declaring total war on them. And she confirmed this in an interview with 'The Breakfast Club', which came out on September 19, and talked about her new song 'Pretty and Petty' — included in her album 'Am I the Drama?' — where she mercilessly attacks BIA:
“Name five BIA songs, with a gun to your head… Baow, I'm dead” “Does she even have a BET award? Yo, make me sweat 'cause you bored / You just a lapdog, BIA, be a lab.”
In the interview, Cardi was clear: she wasn’t going to let the comment about her kids slide.
“Cause you [BIA] mentioned my kids, trying to be cute… When my kids grow up and see that you mentioned them, they gon’ ask me, ‘What did you say? "What did you do?'" the singer retorted.
The dispute escalated from innuendos and shared samples to direct insults, career references, and personal attacks. With Cardi releasing an entire album that includes a song dedicated to shaming BIA, and the latter responding with increasingly aggressive lyrics, it seems neither is willing to back down.
In fact, it should not be forgotten that BIA and Cardi B started out as admirers, then rivals after a collaboration with Nicki Minaj. The innuendos turned direct, and when BIA mentioned Cardi's children, she responded with an album, a brutal song "Pretty and Petty," and a public warning: "I don't play when my children are touched."
For now, everything indicates that the war is still active—and promises many more verses and innuendos.
