Heidi Klum shares how menopause changed her body and her routine
The model spoke without filters about the menopause she is going through, her symptoms and how the changes in her body took her by surprise
Just a few weeks after being the target of criticism for her physique after her appearance at the Met Gala and the Cannes Film Festival, model Heidi Klum has decided not to remain silent and use her platform to give visibility to a topic that very few women of adult age dare to speak about: menopause.
Directly, Heidi Klum spoke out about the negative comments she received for appearing “with a few extra kilos.” Contrary to feeling offended, she pointed out that this change is the result of the biological process she is going through.
"Many say I'm too fat, too thin or pregnant, but I'm not pregnant. I'm just a little fatter. It's menopause," explained the America's Got Talent jury. “I think it is important that we exchange ideas with each other and remove taboos from these topics.”
In addition to the physical changes she has experienced as a result of menopause, the host also stated that changes in body temperature are not an easy thing to deal with. "Suddenly, I was always hot and before I always felt like I was freezing. When I see people in sweaters and jackets I think I would die if I had to wear them," she added.
To top it all off, insomnia and sudden emotional changes have become daily occurrences for her: "Before, I slept deeply. Now I'm constantly awake," she lamented before the microphones.
Although going through these changes is not an easy task, Heidi Klum prefers to focus on finding ways to cope with her new reality. According to his testimony, the support of family and loved ones has been essential in this process.
One of the people who has stood firmly by her side is her husband Tom Kaulitz, a member of Tokio Hotel. In recent statements, the famous woman admitted that thanks to her support she has learned to accept the passage of time more naturally: “The body changes,” she commented.
