Shakira Says Goodbye to Mexico with a Visit to Frida Kahlo's Blue House
“Thank you, Mexico, for always believing in me and for giving me so much,” Shakira wrote as she said goodbye to Mexican soil.
After concluding a successful tour of Mexico City, Shakira left a final gesture of love and admiration for the country that has accompanied her for three decades: an intimate visit to Frida Kahlo's emblematic Blue House in Coyoacan, with her children Sasha and Milan.
The Colombian singer, who had just offered her twelfth and final concert at the GNP Seguros Stadium as part of her “Las mujeres ya no cry” world tour, took advantage of her last hours on Mexican soil to tour one of the country's most iconic cultural.
Although she tried to go unnoticed with a cap, her presence did not go unnoticed by fans, who recognized her and shared brief but emotional moments with her, including photographs and spaces greetings.
Accompanied by her children, Shakira toured the gardens and rooms of the residence that was the home and studio of the legendary Mexican painter. The walk, recorded by witnesses and shared on social media, reflected a more personal and reflective side of the artist, in contrast to the overflowing energy she displayed on stage during her twelve consecutive performances before more than 65,000 people per night.
Shakira said goodbye to Mexico with tears
It was precisely on that stage where Shakira said goodbye with tears in her eyes, moved by the affection of the Mexican public. A video that went viral shows the moment when, after leaving the stage, the singer bursts into tears, overwhelmed by the ovation and support she received.
On her Instagram account, Shakira left a message that adds up to her deep connection with Mexico:
“What I experienced last night is only experienced once in a lifetime. My last night, after 12 GNP stadiums with 65,000 people every night, in a city that has seen the best and greatest artists on the planet sing. Thank you, Mexico, for always believing in me and for giving me so much. For singing, crying, and laughing with me these past 30 years, and thank you for this tribute, one of the greatest of my career. I carry you in my heart every day of my life.”
With this cultural visit and her emotional farewell, Shakira sealed a golden era in Mexico, a country that not only applauded her as an artist, but embraced her as one of its own.
