Five decades long peaceful struggle of Hati community of Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh has finally paid off. On Wednesday, the Rajya Sabha also passed the bill to give tribal status to the community. This bill was passed in the Lok Sabha on December 16 last year. Now after the signature of President Draupadi Murmu, two lakh people of 154 panchayats of four assembly constituencies of the district will get their tribal constitutional rights.

Union Tribal Minister Arjun Munda introduced the bill in the Rajya Sabha in the afternoon. The bill was passed around 4:00 pm after two hours of discussion. As soon as the bill was passed by the Rajya Sabha, there was a wave of happiness in the Transgiri area of Sirmaur. Explain that with the efforts of former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur, MP Suresh Kashyap, former MLA Baldev Tomar, MLA Reena Kashyap and former minister Sukhram Chaudhary, the ethnographic report in this matter was sent to the Center after the formation of the research institute. The BJP in its election manifesto had promised to give tribal status to the Hati community, which the BJP government has fulfilled and given their rights to the Hati community of Giripar.

In the year 2021, the then Chief Minister Jairam Thakur sent the ethnographic report of the Hati community to the central government.

- On April 13, 2022, the Registrar General of India approved the demand to declare the community as a tribe

- On September 14, 2022, the Union Cabinet approved the grant of tribe status to the community

On December 9, Union Tribal Minister Arjun Munda presented the bill in the Lok Sabha, which was passed by the Lok Sabha on December 16.

- On July 26, Union Minister Arjun Munda presented the bill in the Rajya Sabha in the afternoon which was passed at 4:00 pm.
