Weather Update: Cyclonic Conditions, Rainfall, and Heat Wave Alerts Across India

The meteorological landscape of India presents a dynamic picture with various weather systems impacting different regions. Over North-Eastern Assam, a cyclonic wind area has developed, while central Maharashtra and surrounding areas experience another cyclonic circulation. Additionally, cyclonic circulations are forming over Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and North Interior Karnataka. An air discontinuity from the Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh circulation extends to South Tamil Nadu.
Rainfall patterns have been diverse, with light to moderate rain and thundershowers recorded over Central Maharashtra, Coastal Odisha, Manipur, East Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Kerala in the past 24 hours. Isolated light rain occurred in Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, East Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad.
Changes are anticipated in the weather patterns of North-West India, with storm alerts issued alongside rain forecasts for several states, including Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, Eastern and Southern India may face severe heat wave conditions over the next five days. Rainfall is expected in North-Western India, particularly in Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Western Uttar Pradesh from April 26 to 28, along with storm alerts.
Looking ahead, Arunachal Pradesh may experience rain, snowfall, lightning, storms, and strong winds over the next 24 hours. Scattered rain is forecasted for Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura in the coming days.
According to Skymet Weather reports, Western Himalayas may witness light to moderate rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning from April 26 to 28. Punjab and Haryana may experience lightning, rain, thunder, and strong winds, while Rajasthan and Western Uttar Pradesh may face winds of 30 to 40 km per hour on April 26. Sporadic hailstorms are possible in Punjab and Haryana on April 26 and 27.
As India heads into the second phase of Lok Sabha Elections, the Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heat wave warnings in several states. Jharkhand, in particular, is expected to face increased temperatures by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next 72 hours, with the entire state likely to experience heat wave conditions. Similarly, heat wave conditions are anticipated in Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Sikkim, Interior Karnataka, Bihar, and Tamil Nadu.
