A major accident has occurred after a tempo traveler fell into a gorge in Banjar of Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. The accident happened at around 8.30 pm last night, when a traveler fell into a 500 feet deep gorge in Ghiagi. A total of seven students have died in this accident, while 10 tourists have been badly injured. All the deceased students are residents of Varanasi in UP. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has expressed deep grief over the death of seven people.

According to the information received, a total of 17 tourists, including students of IIT Varanasi, had come to Kullu by booking Tempo Traveler from Majnun Tilla in Delhi. The incident took place when all the students were coming back from Jalodi holdings towards Banjar. During this, the car fell into a 500-metre deep gorge near Ghiyagi turn due to lack of brakes. The accident was so horrific that the car blew up. Hearing the cries of the tourists, the local people reached the spot and started the rescue operation.
Seven students died in accident
Four students died on the spot in the accident, while three students died during treatment at Banjara Hospital. After this the other injured were hurriedly referred to Kullu Hospital, where their treatment is going on. Banjar MLA Surendra Shourie also reached the hospital as soon as he got the information about the accident, and inquired about the well being of the injured.

Kullu SP Gurdev Singh said that 7 people were killed and 10 others were injured when a tourist vehicle fell off a cliff on NH-305 in Ghiyagi area of ​​Banjar Valley in Kullu at 8:30 pm last night. 5 injured have been shifted to Zonal Hospital, Kullu and 5 are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Banjar.
CM Jairam Thakur expressed grief by tweeting
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has ordered to keep the Manali-Chandigarh National Highway open as soon as the information about the accident is received. Along with this, the CM has expressed grief over the death of seven people by tweeting. He tweeted and wrote, 'Very sad to hear the news of the death of 7 people in a painful road accident in district Kullu.
