Ibai Llanos presented Ronin FC, his own professional football team
Ibai new project starts with the Cuarta Catalana and with open tests for players
The popular Spanish streamer Ibai Llanos officially presented Ronin FC, his new project in the world of professional football. The team will compete in the Catalan Fourth Division, the lowest federated category in that region of Spain, with the ambition of climbing positions in the medium and long term.
Ronin FC joins the list of sports projects promoted by Llanos, who already leads KOI, an esports organization, and Porcinos FC, a Kings League team. Unlike them, Ronin is starting from scratch in traditional football, with an approach that mixes sport with content creation and a strong connection with its digital community.
"We are already federated, we are going to compete in the fourth division of Catalonia," said Llanos in a video posted on his social networks, where he also showed the club's crest, with a spherical design in black and white. He explained that the chosen name, "Ronin," refers to a masterless samurai, a symbol of rebellion, self-sufficiency, and perseverance, values he wants to convey with this new team.
Without a defined roster and a stadium yet to be confirmed
So far, Ronin FC does not have an official squad or a coach. Ibai announced that they will open tryouts for competitive-level players and added that the coach will be announced soon. "Wanted: players," commented the streamer, inviting his community to keep an eye on the club's social media.
Although the team does not yet have a confirmed stadium, Llanos assured that the matches can be watched for free at the location they choose as their home. He also left open the possibility of them being broadcast on Twitch, an unusual initiative in regional leagues.
The debut is scheduled for the end of September and the team will be part of group 25 of the Cuarta Catalana, along with 14 other clubs that will fight for promotion.
"There are no investors or other owners, it's just me," clarified Ibai, who hopes to generate content from this new project while promoting a club with its own identity. In less than three hours, Ronin FC had already surpassed 151 thousand followers on Instagram, a figure that reflects the reach and support of the Llanos community.
