Jaime Lozano reacted to the elimination of Pachuca from the Club World Cup
The Tuzos finished their participation in the World Cup with three defeats in three games. Jaime Lozano spoke about this bitter pill to swallow.
The Tuzos del Pachuca did not have a good performance in the 2025 Club World Cup. The Mexican team was eliminated from the competition without scoring any points. Jaime Lozano offered his impressions.
“It’s a bitter pill to swallow for everyone (…) It’s complicated because you’re left out, and this tournament is only going to be held every four years. Many of this team won’t be there,” said Jaime Lozano.
The Tuzos del Pachuca were paired in Group H of the 2025 Club World Cup. The Mexican team had to face Salzburg, Real Madrid, and Al Hilal. A priori, it wasn’t an easy group, but in the Club World Cup of surprises, the Mexican team couldn’t pull off a surprise.
“Pachuca is made to transcend; in these tournaments, they normally show up for Mexico. We had our opportunities, but we didn’t know how to take advantage of them,” added the Mexican coach.
The historic Mexican team lost 2-1 to Red Bulls Salzburg on the first matchday; In the second matchday, they fell 3-1 to Real Madrid despite having an extra player on the field, and in the final matchday, they were defeated 2-0 by Al Hilal.
“The circumstances weren't favorable, like everything else, we couldn't finish; it was just small details. I think we were our own worst rivals, not being able to transform everything we had been doing in the best way possible,” explained Mexican defender Alfonso Aceves.
Jaime Lozano and the Short Tournaments
“Jimmy” is starting this new process with the Pachuca Tuzos. The Mexican strategist has to surpass the high bar left by Uruguayan Guillermo Almada. However, Jaime Lozano got off to a poor start.
In this first report, Jaime Lozano leaves with three losses in three matches. Two goals for and seven against are the first records for “Jimmy”'s Pachuca. It's worth remembering that the last time Lozano coached was in another short tournament like the 2024 Copa América. On that occasion, Mexico was eliminated in the first round after only collecting four points.
