Luxury Synod: Donald Trump plays golf with US Open winner Bryson DeChambeau
The White House briefed the press on the game between the champion and the president
US President Donald Trump is playing golf this Sunday with 2024 US Open winner Bryson DeChambeau, the White House told the press.
DeChambeau is playing for the League of Golf LIV and formerly played for the rival PGA Tour.
President Trump, a huge golf fan, said last year he could help bridge the gap between the two leagues, but no deal has been reached.
DeChambeau won last year's U.S. Open after holding off Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy.
The two are old acquaintances. DeChambeau and Trump gained the attention of the golf world last summer after meeting on the U.S. Open champion's YouTube channel as part of his “Break 50” series. However, their friendship goes back much further, as DeChambeau spoke about his relationship with the 45th and 47th president of the United States in an interview with The Times. “I’ve known him for over eight years, and we’ve developed a great friendship. It’s been fun getting to know him better, beyond what people think and see of him. That’s what we were trying to accomplish when we featured him on ‘Break 50,’” the champion said a few months ago. *With information from EFE.
