Carl Froch on Joshua vs. Paul: 'I could break his neck'
Carl Froch believes Paul is taking a big risk fighting Joshua and predicts the fight shouldn't last a minute if the former champion comes out swinging
Carl Froch, former boxer and current commentator, asserted that Anthony Joshua could break Jake Paul's neck if he lands his powerful right hand when they face off on December 19 at the Kaseya Center in Miami.
In an interview with gameshub.com, Froch believes Paul is taking a big risk fighting Joshua and predicts the fight shouldn't last a minute if the former champion comes out swinging.
“And since it's not an exhibition, they can't make any shady deals, because it's illegal. So it has to be a real fight, and every fan who knows how boxing works knows that if AJ goes in with Jake Paul and really tries, the fight won't last a minute. Because as soon as AJ lands that one-two…,” he said.
“Look at the fight with Ngannou and what happened to Francis, who took Tyson Fury to eight rounds. Look how that fight ended. AJ lands that right hand on Jake Paul, he could even break his neck. And that would be the end of it. It would be the end, and it would be bad for the sport," he added. The fight between Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul will be an official bout in the heavyweight division. The fight will last eight rounds—each three minutes long—10-ounce gloves will be used, and it will be broadcast worldwide on Netflix. The YouTuber-turned-boxer had planned to fight Gervonta Davis on November 14, but because 'Tank' was recently accused by his ex-girlfriend Courtney Rossel of assault, kidnapping, and false imprisonment, the fight was canceled. Paul expressed his anger about what happened and assured everyone that he would find an opponent soon, the influencer chose Joshua, and most sports experts predicted that the Briton should win easily. However, some experts, like Tyson Fury, saw the American fighter Anthony Joshua, 36, was knocked out in his last fight against Daniel Dubois last September. The British WBA lightweight regular has a record of 28 wins, 25 of them by knockout and four losses.
Meanwhile, Jake Paul, 27, has five wins after suffering his first loss to Tommy Fury by split decision, brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. The American YouTuber also has a record of 12 wins (six by knockout) and one loss.
