Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez will remain with Inter Miami for at least one more season after renewing his contract until 2026.

“The striker's vast experience and leadership were crucial in Inter Miami securing their third and fourth titles by winning the Eastern Conference Championship and the MLS Cup,” the Miami club highlighted in a statement.

The attacking focal point alongside Lionel Messi will remain with Inter Miami after winning their first MLS Cup.

Suarez's contract with the club was set to expire at the end of 2025, and Inter Miami had announced they were negotiating an extension.

The 38-year-old Uruguayan played 50 matches across all competitions in 2025, scoring 17 goals and providing 17 assists, according to Inter Miami data.

The 38-year-old striker began last season as a regular starter alongside Lionel Messi, but his role diminished during the playoffs, where he started the final three matches on the bench.

In addition to physical problems, Suarez missed several matches last year due to his conduct.

In August, he was suspended for nine matches after spitting at a member of the Seattle Sounders' coaching staff following Inter Miami's defeat in the Leagues Cup final. Then, in November, he missed a playoff match for kicking an opposing defender in the previous game. The striker joined Inter Miami in 2024 after playing for Brazilian club Gremio.
