The El Salvador national team had problems with their flight and delayed their arrival to the Dominican Republic
Due to a mechanical problem, La Selecta had to change planes in Bogota. They waited more than two hours for authorization to return to El Dorado
The El Salvador national team will face the Dominican Republic in the Concacaf Series. But during their transfer to Santo Domingo, they had problems with the plane they were traveling on. “La Selecta” was delayed because their plane experienced mechanical problems. On March 25, “La Selecta” departed from San Salvador bound for Bogota, Colombia. This was to be the only stop the Salvadoran team would make before arriving in the Dominican Republic. But problems began as soon as they took off for Santo Domingo. According to Salvadoran media reports, the plane carrying “La Selecta” stopped climbing 40 minutes after takeoff. At the time the malfunction was noticed, they were at an altitude of 12,675 feet. Due to mechanical failures, safety protocols were activated, and the plane returned to El Dorado International Airport. After more than two hours in the air, the plane landed back in Bogota at 3:32 p.m. Colombian time. Fortunately for the passengers, there were no major incidents affecting them. At 5:52 PM Colombian time, a new plane took off with the Salvadoran delegation. Three hours later, the plane carrying "La Selecta" landed at Las Americas International Airport in Santo Domingo. Despite the setbacks, the team managed by Hernan Dario "Bolillo" Gomez inspected the field at Cibao Stadium in Santiago de los Caballeros. The Salvadoran team will face the Dominican Republic this Thursday, March 26, as part of the Concacaf Series. Probable lineup for El Salvador: Mario Gonzalez; Rudy Clavel, Julio Sibrian, Jefferson Valladares, Noel Rivera; Marcelo Diaz, Mauricio Cerritos, Nathan Ordaz; Brayan Gil, Styven Vasquez, and Jairo Henriquez.
