Starting this summer, millions of households in New York with school-age children will benefit from economic relief from the state's School Tax Relief (STAR) program, which expects to distribute up to $2.2 billion dollars.

According to the entity's website, STAR is a financial aid for eligible residents to reduce their property taxes.

In this regard, the governor of New York, Kathy Hochul commented summer is here, and it also marks the beginning of the STAR tax relief season for millions of New Yorkers. From tax credits to childcare assistance and much more, we continue to put more money in the pockets of New Yorkers, she said.

The refund is applied each year, and for 2025, depending on the type of family income, the amount to be received will be as follows:

The economic relief will begin to be distributed starting the second week of July; however, the dates may vary from one city to another according to the calendar presented by the governor.
