The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) pledged to keep schools safe from operations by federal Immigration agencies during the school year that begins this Thursday, August 14.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass led a press conference with LAUSD Superintendent Alberto Carvalho and other local leaders, to reaffirm the mission to keep thousands of students safe and provide support amid fears of ICE raids.
"We are gathered here today to talk about how to protect our children from the federal government. Our young people are going through this unnecessary trauma, which should not interfere with their education," the mayor said.
